Paving slated to start on Chatham Bridge tonight
Crews are supposed to start paving on the Chatham Bridge tonight, at around 6 p.m.
Expect delays while that work is being done, said Tina Bundy with the Virginia Department of Transportation. Work is also supposed to be done tonight on the Blue and Gray Parkway ramp from westbound State Route 3 in Stafford. The westbound ramp is scheduled to be closed from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday.
The milling and paving work on the bridge and Route 3 into Stafford started in early October. After crews tore up the pavement on the bridge, they discovered that the concrete deck needing patching. That work, and Hurricane Sandy, delayed the project. (Click here for a previous blog on the bridge work.)
That project stretches into Stafford along eastbound State Route 3 to the Blue and Gray Parkway.
Crews also have some patching and paving to do on the eastbound lanes of the highway between Ferry Road and the parkway. That section has already been milled.
