Meeting slated for improvement studies of U.S. 1 at Boswell’s Corner
Federal highway officials will host a second meeting on a study of planned improvements to U.S. 1 in the Boswell’s Corner area.
The meeting is scheduled to run from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hilldrup Moving & Storage at 4022 Jefferson Davis Highway in north Stafford. Officials held the first meeting in May (click here for the story).
The meeting will include an update and presentation of conceptual plans for two projects aimed at fixing congestion and safety issues along U.S. 1 from Telegraph Road in Stafford to Joplin and Fuller roads in Prince William County.
One project focuses on U.S. 1 and likely will include adding lanes. The other focuses on the Telegraph Road intersection on U.S. 1 north of Route 610.
The Federal Highway Administration is overseeing the study along with help from local and state officials.
The Telegraph Road intersection project has $4 million in federal funding. Officials have said that construction could start later this year and be finished by late 2013.
The U.S. 1 improvements have no definitive timeline and no funding.
