Ladysmith commuters to get park-and-ride spot
The George Washington Regional Commission voted Monday night to lease 25 park-and-ride spaces for Caroline commuters in the Ladysmith area.
GWRC will lease the spaces for $1 per weekday.
The spaces are at the Ladysmith Professional Building in the Ladysmith Business Park off of Route 639, which is within a mile of Interstate 95 exit 110.
Some Ladysmith commuters who carpool and vanpool had been parking in a shopping center recently but had their cars towed. The new leased spaces will allow them to now park without fear of being towed.
Diana Utz, director of GWRideconnect, told the GWRC board that the lease is a short-term fix, but something that is needed.
The lease begins Oct. 1 and will run through Sept. 30, 2013.
