Leeland Station VRE lot expansion wrapping up

Parking will be restricted this weekend at the Virginia Railway Express Leeland Station lot in Stafford. It’s for good reason—the contractor is putting on the finishing touches for the expansion project.

The entire lot, with the new 196 spaces, should be opened by Sept. 19, according to VRE.

This weekend workers will be painting lines on the paved area. Anyone planning to park in the lot Saturday or Sunday can only use the gravel area.

The $4.4-million project included the installation of new lights in the parking area (new and existing) as well as new sidewalks and steps leading to the train platform.

Correction: The cost for the Leeland Station lot was $2.2 million.
