Crash shuts down I-95 lanes in Caroline
UPDATE (1:49): All lanes have been reopened.
UPDATE (12:55 p.m.): A box-truck crash that happened around 9 a.m. near mile marker 113 on southbound Interstate 95 in Caroline caused lane closures and backups.
Two men were injured in the crash, said Virginia State Police Sgt. Thomas Molnar. One man, the 34-year-old driver, suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries. He was flown to Mary Washington Hospital. A passenger, a 41-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to VCU Medical Center. Both men were wearing their safety belts.
The crash happened when the Penske box truck ran off the right side of the road, hit an embankment and overturned onto the passenger’s side, Molnar said.
All lanes were closed for a short time. The right lane remains closed as crews continue clearing up the scene.
The crash is still under investigation.
