Super NoVa transit plan meetings set

Transportation officials are looking for citizen input for a study aiming to improve how commuters, and travelers in general, get around in Northern Virginia and the surrounding region.

Work on the Super NoVa Transit and Transportation Demand Management Vision Plan study, which focuses on Northern Virginia but also stretches to Caroline and Culpeper, started in October and numerous public meetings have already been held.

The study is focusing on how to develop current and future modes of mass transit in the region in line with land use, population growth and employment  centers, and travel patterns and trends, according to the SuperNoVa website.

The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation is the lead agency for the study. As part of the study, officials are collecting data on travel demands and needs and gathering input from citizens before they give recommendations later this year.

Those who can’t take part in the public meetings can still give their take on the study by sending in written comments or going to the Super NoVa Transit and Transportation Demand Management Vision Plan website.
