I will say this for John Roberts, I don’t think he’s political. Some justices are accused of legislating from the bench, left and right…while others are just left or right. I’ve disagreed with the majority of Roberts’ rulings, and even if he ruled against it today, I’d have to think he was basing his decision on the law. Funny thing is, Mitt Romney said he would appoint Supreme Court justices in the mold of John Roberts. He said that before today. HAHA!!!
All of us political buffs were expecting this decision this week. I read one story where a majority of legal scholars though “Obamacare” was constitutional, but predicted it would be thrown out. I read another yesterday that predicted John Roberts would vote for it. And to top it all off, I had more than one dream last night that it passed. Not that it was all that important to me, but I just have some seriously boring dreams.
I wasn’t sure it was constitutional. Yeah, I wanted it to pass. I’ve been in favor of this reform, but I wasn’t entirely sure it was the correct way to do it. I had to think for a few hours to see if I agreed with Roberts’ ruling that the mandate is a tax. Ya know, I guess it is. But it’s a tax you’re going to choose that will affect only about 2% of Americans. Republicans are all lit up about this tax, despite all their other tax stances saying the poor should pay a higher tax rate than the rich. This “tax” will not hit the rich and only a small minority in the middle class.
A lot of people who are upset over this, are actually going to benefit from this. Most people it won’t affect at all. How will it affect me? Really, the only way right now is that I can keep my son on my insurance for a few more years. But I’m not as he’s in the Army now and I’ll let them provide his insurance.
Obamacare is unpopular right now. But it’s not so unpopular that even Democrats are calling it “Obamacare.” Most people just don’t like the mandate, even if it doesn’t affect them. I totally predict in a few years polls will rise into the majority favoring it. Call me out now and we’ll wager on it. Also, Mitt Romney says he’s going to overturn it. First off, Mitt, you’ll need Congress for that and you’re not going to have that…even in that pipe dream where you become president.
I drew about 15 roughs for this and they all sucked except for two. I’d show ya’ the other, but nah. I’ll wait.
