I think keeping the Redskins training and practice facilities in Virginia is a good thing.  They do bring money into the state.  I’m not sure the state had to spend $6 million to keep them here.  Virginia’s tax rates a lot lower than D.C.’s and Maryland’s.  The ‘Skins play in Maryland and they probably wouldn’t want to increase what they’re already paying there.  The team is basically Virginia’s team, with their HQ being in Loudon County and now their spring training will be in Richmond.

The General Assembly passed on this Redskins payout twice.  The governor found money in other departments to give to the team.  There’s more than one member of the General Assembly who are upset over this.  Republicans and Democrats seem to be equally unhapy about this, and about the lack of communication from the governor’s office on the issue.  Most legislators learned through the media this was happening.

Here’s the rough.
