Everyone in the office who saw the rough for this cartoon let out a big “GRRRRR” sound.  There were a lot of other words exclaimed but The Blog Gods wouldn’t find them appropriate for this family safe and friendly blog.

Eric’s not very popular among people who….well, think.

This guy has no problem spending money we don’t have on wars, bailouts and tax cuts for rich people, but a disaster hits and he says we have to cut something.  Eric’s always talking about programs he wants cut, then he’ll use a disaster in his own state as partisan leverage to score the political points he wants.

He’s such a nice guy.

Here’s the rough.  We changed “hurricane relief” to “disaster relief” since that covered more than just one of the disasters we experienced last week.

I had three other ideas but they were all more gag oriented than actually making a political point.  I know any of these would have been approved, but I wasn’t in love with any of them.  So I didn’t show them to my editor.
