Westboro

Westboro isn’t content with being just disgusting enough to picket a dead soldier’s funeral.  Recently they felt the need to go after victims of the tornado in Joplin, Missouri.  Many members of the infamous Kansas church full of haters posted on victim’s facebook pages all sorts of vile comments about how they deserved to die.  They claim God is striking Joplin for our sins of gay marriage.  When I think of gay marriage safe havens, Missouri does not come to mind first.

I would think that they’re just looking to make people angry and they don’t really care how low they go, but no.  They actually believe the crap they say.  Some of the counter-protesters claim they were KKK members.  I’m not sure if they really were representatives of the Klan, but it’s pretty bad if the KKK thinks you’re going to far with the hate.

I tried to make two points with this cartoon.  The first being that these particular Baptists just want to hate on anything.  The second being the cult worship of all that is Oprah.  Westboro didn’t really attack Oprah.  I made that part up.

The biggest thing I had to deal with today was even finding a subject.  There’s a skeleton crew in the newsroom working this holiday and there was nothing in the news for me to comment on…until I found this.  Why didn’t I take today off?
