Mission Accomplished
I was going to do a cartoon showing how glad Iraqis are to see us go, then I read some interviews with Iraqis and the majority doesn’t want us to. Yeah, they don’t like us but they’re more afraid of the insurgency, al Qaida, Iran and their own government. It was an interesting series of interviews and it identified what city each respondent was from. The two constants in each response was frustration with their government and fear of Iran.
Most respondents said their life hasn’t improved since 2003 and most said the future was bleak. There was no love for our troops or our country but they felt safer with us there. There’s no faith they can build a stable government and they believe Iran will influence and control their government, or actually invade their country. There were a few beefs with Turkey and Kuwait siphoning off their oil.
I decided to focus on their hatred of their government and how that sounded so familiar, especially after last weekend.

Here’s the rough, kids.
