Oktoberfest

I wasn’t too sure how well this cartoon worked when I submitted it.  You have to have some knowledge of history to get it.

A local poll, that probably wasn’t very scientific, said that 58% of downtown merchants were in favor of Oktoberfest in downtown.  This is where a block gets closed and Capital Ale House tries to profit from it, while also benefitting other local businesses.  I’ve talked to a few downtown business owners.  Some love it and say it made them money.  Others hated it and said it hurt them.  Others said it had no impact on them at all.

I think if it brings more visitors and more revenue for the city, then it’s a must deal…even if it hurts a few.

Hopefully this year’s event can pass by without the mayor getting into a verbal spat with another old lady.
