Mad As Hell
A lot of people criticize Obama for his lack of emotion…or lack of anger. He doesn’t ever give the impression that he’s even slightly ticked. Heck, with our last president, he looked ticked off anytime he was asked the simplest of questions at a press conference (which is why he didn’t do that many). The other thing Obama’s criticized for is playing golf during a crisis.
I don’t think his playing golf is a distraction to his job. It’s mostly something else for right wingers, those who criticize him no matter what he does, to hit him again. He’s been on seven golf outings since the oil disaster. They question who plays golf that much…people in Obama’s salary bracket probably do play that often. You and I, not so much (and me never since I left Hawaii).
I will give his critics this: It does give an impression he’s not concerned. Golf gives the impression that the player doesn’t care about anything except his golf game. Now if he was bowling I’m sure the criticism would be less.
But if you’re going to criticize a guy for taking two hours out of a day from a job that’s a seven day a week job, then you might as well criticize him for everything. I’m sure he spent at least 20 minutes at breakfast and then another 20 or so for lunch then another 20 for dinner. That’s an hour away from the crisis! He probably showers everyday and God knows how many minutes that is. He doesn’t have a lot of hair so he’s not spending a lot of time conditioning…but my god that’s still at least seven minutes he could have spent thinking about that oil spill. I once read he runs on a treadmill thingy every morning. Oh my, that’s at least another 30 to 45 minutes he could be spending on the disaster of the week. I bet he probably sleeps every night too. How much longer is America going to stand for this?
