I’ve noticed over the years and from knowing a few Sams, that if your name is Sam, you’re not really fond of being called "Sam-I-Am".
This was tedious as I had to letter a LOT. Lettering is the most boring part of drawing a cartoon which is why I try to use as few as possible. Also, I’ve learned that lots of words deter readers from reading the entire cartoon. Hopefully they’ll stick around for this one.
I lettered the entire thing then thought each rhyming line needed space between them. I photo-copied the entire thing, then put white-out over the lettering, and pasted the copied text over the white-out. I could have just typed the text in, but that’s always been a boring look, at least in my opinion.
I know I’m blogging this a bit early as the cartoon doesn’t run until tomorrow, and I’m not big on scooping the print edition. But I was kinda proud of my creativity and decided to go ahead and put it online. Shout out to Dr. Seuss!
