I sat around with several colleagues to pick the list of business that have closed down over the years. I had a criteria that they had to be downtown traditions. Blue Dog, huge tradition and I miss it a lot. Chords, didn’t make my list as it wasn’t a tradition and frankly, I never liked it. I was going to pick Roma 52, first place I ate when I visited this city, but they didn’t really go out of business.
I miss every business on this list except Irish Brigade (because that closed before I moved here) and Merriman’s (because, well…you know why).
A lot of people are learning about Olde Town Wine And Cheese closing from this cartoon. Even my editor didn’t know. He killed the first idea as he thought it was too mean. He didn’t like the word "whine".

I do prefer the toon we ran over the killed idea, so I’m not going to whine about it. HAHAHA!!! Get it? Whine! Nevermind.
I am going to miss the place. I used to take my little sister there all the time, and as I recall, she never paid once. Once I took my son and realized he couldn’t chew or move his mouth. I asked what was wrong but he couldn’t answer. Turns out, he decided to stick the entire sandwich in his mouth. Ah, good times.
One thing I never understood about this shop and several others (I’ve mentioned this to a few friends), but why close your shop that sells food when it’s time for people to eat? Seriously, people eat after 5:00 PM. Just about everybody I know eats something after that time.
I’m gonna have to visit the shop before it blows town. I will not be taking my sister.
