I can’t post the rough to this cartoon because the rough is inside this cartoon.  Here’s what happened:  I roughed the idea (felt good about the idea) and realized I wasn’t going to capture the spontaneity twice.  So, I took a better, darker pen and drew on top of the ball point to thicken things up, even redid the lettering and speech balloon and pasted it onto the drawing paper.  Then I shaded around it to give it a bit more life.  The original looks like a big gob of gunk.  Cartoonists like that.

I’ve been wanting to draw Hillary as a witch for a while but I didn’t have a call for it.  Today I felt I did.

Toons on the primary

I haven’t talked about other toons in a while.  I fell out of the zone and bored myself with it.  In the past couple of days after the Pa Primary I’ve seen a ton of crap (especially any political cartoon with Hillary and Obama boxing).  I’m not gonna point out the crap.  It’s not often there’s more than one cartoon in a single day that makes me laugh, but today there were a few. 

I think Mike Keefe stole this from me even though I never thought of it.  It’s my kind of cartoon. 

Nick, I’m not posting yours because we talked yesterday.  I just think the imagery is hilarious.  There’s something kinda disgusting about the tongue though. 

I think the analogy is kinda outdated, but I still like Lisa Benson’s toon.  Hillary might be in a bikini (c’mon…she’s 60) which is more disgusting than the tongue Nick drew.
