Marshall and today’s toon

Marshall

I want to congratulate Marshall Ramsey of The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, MS. Marshall just posted his 3000th blog and it’s been less than a year since his blog started, or a little more than a year….I’m not sure. Marshall blogs A LOT. I think he blogs in his sleep. Anyway, he’s built a really cool community within his blog as people actually leave comments to every post he makes…..HINT!!! HINT!!!

So Marshall is getting a little national exposure from this and that’s cool. He’s a really good guy, a friend of mine and he and his wife just had their third son. The guy has three sons, a seriously fat cat, a wife, a mortgage with a mowing headache, a public speaking schedule and he draws SEVEN cartoons a week in addition to his blog. I don’t know how he does it.

So when I hit 3000 blogs, I’m not gonna know it. I can guarantee it will take a little bit longer than it did for Marshall. Hell, I can’t even estimate what number I’m on now.

On to the toons!!!

Here’s today’s toon that’s featured in your very own Free Lance-Star.

Bush’s supporters always talk about how smart he is and his GPA and such…and I’m like….”really?”. When people tell me Bush is stupid I want to debate them. I don’t want to even entertain the thought that the leader of this country is…well….stupid. I like to think maybe he has things on his head, he’s stressed, Cheney confused him……I’ll even go with not sober. Calling him stupid is such a cheap attack and it seems impossible we’d elect someone who’s not that smart. But ya know, after making statements like he did on Vietnam…..I’m starting to think maybe this guy’s stupid.

Toon for Creators

I drew this just for my syndicate. I needed another toon for the week and this is something that really annoyed me. Ed Gamble in Jacksonville, Florida is in trouble with the African-American community for a toon he drew. In the same week, members of the NAACP cry for this guy to be fired….and other segments of the NAACP cried for Michael Vick to get a second chance. I think the toon adequately explains how I feel about this one.

I think anything I might have to say about your toon for the syndicate would get me into trouble.
As for your toon for the FLS…it’s not a cheap attack to call Bush stupid. If you can back it up AND say you didn’t vote for him, then you can call him stupid.
Also, as far as commenting on your blogs…Sometimes your blogs are a little “skim”. That’s what prevents me from commentnig all the time. Oh, and sometimes I don’t get the toon, but that’s my fault. I don’t keep up with what’s going on.

Keep it up. I go to this every day, and I will try to comment more.

I hear they are opening a comedy club in Fredericksburg called the “I don’t get its.”

I do think the funniest thing in the paper today was nothing you did. How crazy is it that people from Mongolia came to Spotsylvania for state of the art anything? I mean the art that went with it was a picture of them gfoing through a book. Is the three-ring-binder now state of the art?

Well, I don’t read other cartoonists’ blogs, I read yours. Sometimes I have nothing to say in response to your blog so I don’t. I’m not going to start commenting for commenting’s sake. I comment somewhat frequently on your blogs, you ungrateful b@$tard!
