There isn’t a rough for this toon. There was. But after drawing the cell phone for the rough I realized I wasn’t going to draw it better. So I cut it out and pasted it on the bristol board, went over the lettering again and added shading. Ta-da.
With the point of this toon: I was originally going to just poke fun at teens driving with cells then I talked to my editor and we realized we’re pretty annoyed with anybody driving with cells. I don’t think an adult is any less distracted talking on his cell than a kid. People, adults included, can barely walk straight while talking on a phone less enough drive. And whoever invented the Nextel phone, where it’s like a walkie talkie, beeps really loud and everyone can hear both sides of the conversation, yeah…I want five minutes alone in a room with that person. I’ll bring Toby, the biting Jack Russell.
