This probably isn’t a cartoon as I’m sure it’s actually happened.  I’m still waiting on my paper order.  Currently I’m drawing in a notebook they handed out to us two years ago at a convention in Sacramento.

Cartoons and Cocktails

I had a great time last night at Cartoons and Cocktails.  I’m not fully understanding of the whole podcast thing, but I did an interview for a podcast last night.  I was on.  I was funny, witty, intelligent and very informative.  You’ll never see it.

The most fun for me other than the open bar, being wined and dined and treated like a ‘real’ celebrity is seeing old friends.  In addition to the organizers of the event and people from universities and shows I’ve visited, I got to hang out with cartoonists (you can put an open bar in your basement and you’ll attract at least seven cartoonists).

I got to see this year’s Pulitzer winner Mike Luckovich.  I also got to visit with Joel Pett, Kevin Kallaugher, Tom Toles, Matt Wuerker and did some bar schmoozing with Justin Bilicki and Nate Beeler. Other associates in the biz was Elissa, coordinator for the AAEC and Drew Chapman (who bought one of my cartoons).  I also got to visit with everyone’s better half…but I can’t remember that many names, dammit.

And I was responsible enough to politely decline Justin’s offer of a whiskey shot before jumping in the company car to drive home.
