I like to use pop culture in current events in my toons.  Though at times it might be a hard sell to my editors.  In today’s cartoon I quoted what is probably the most annoying song to come out this year.  It’s the Black Eye’d Peas “my humps” (or is it “my lumps”?)  I’m ashamed to admit I’ve heard this song enough to quote a few lyrics, which I had to do when I sold this idea to my editor.  I think he recoiled in horror at a few of them.

I also know it might totally fly over the head of a lot of readers.  But I think the payoff will be worth it since we’re always trying to stay current and attract a younger audience.
