For example, “Custodial will see reductions in restroom-cleaning frequency, elimination of desk-side trash pickup” and less floor cleaning. Grass won’t be cut as often, irrigation will be cut back. Heat in buildings will be earlier than normal this year, and themostats will be set at 80 degrees for cooling systems.

“At this time, we do not see an elimination of services, but rather a reduction,” says Capt. Peter Nette, NSASP’s commanding officer. “We will do everything feasible, though not necessarily popular, to minimize impacts to our ability to provide for the overall support to include safey and security of our bases’ workforce and residents.”

General Atomics’ version of the launcher is  being evaluated at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgen Division, according to the Office of Naval Research. The equipment was delivered in June. BAE Systems Inc. delivered the first prototype to the King George County base in January. Each of the companies is working on designs for the newest generation of Navy weapons. Railguns use a massive pulse of energy to propel a projectile along parallel rails at great speed. Testing has been underway at Dahlgren  since  2006.
