Retired Marine finishing up her Gold Star ride
Retired Marine Maj. Jennifer Marino set out from Camp Pendleton, Calif., on Aug. 10 for the bike ride of a lifetime, and a journey of remembrance for American Gold Star Mothers and their children killed in war. She’s talked to more than 50 mothers and family members on her 2,600-mile ride, and will be passing through Fredericksburg before arriving at her destination, the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle around 11:30 Friday. Read more about the trip on her website. I’ll have details in a story coming up this weekend.
