Kaine swinging by Quantico next week
On Wednesday, Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, a member of the Armed Services Committee, will stop at Marine Corps Base Quantico to talk about the impact of the looming federal budget sequestration on Marine readiness, and he’ll tour training areas on base. Afterward, he’ll join a group of wounded warriors for lunch at the nearby Globe & Laurel restaurant in Stafford for a discussion on troops’ transition from the military and employment. Kaine’s first stop, on Tuesday, will be Newport News Shipbuilding, and a tour of the world’s largest Navy base in Norfolk. On Thursday, he’ll visit a Veterans Administration medical center in Salem, then head to Staunton to meet members of the Virginia National Guard’s 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, and to Charlottesville for a sit-down with members of the University of Virginia Reserve Officer Training Corps.
