Christmas trees for service members
Two hundred families on military bases in Virginia and Maryland are getting free Christmas trees, stands and decorations thanks to BAE Systems and USO-Metro. USO-Metro selected the families—some in the Fredericksburg area—and employees at BAE Systems, which has an office in Stafford County, raised $64,000 for the Trees for Our Heroes fundraiser, according to a press release. Snead’s Farm, on U.S. 17 in Caroline County, will be the Virginia pickup site on Saturday from 10-2 p.m. Smokey Glen Farm in Gaithersburg, Md., will do the honors, at the same time, on Sunday. The service members can get a pre-cut tree, or cut their own. The money donated by the defense contractor will provide 675 trees and accessories across the country this holiday season.
