Sesame Street app for military families
Oscar, Earnie, Cookie Monster and the gang have something to say to kids of service members. The application, Sesame Street for Military Families, is available initially for iPhone, and includes topics such as deployments, homecomings, injuries, grief and self-expression. The app and its materials “are an extension of Sesame Workshop’s ongoing efforts to support our troops and their families,” according to a press release. It’s in English and Spanish and parents should review the material before sharing it with a child. The app will be available later this month for Android devices and Kindle Fire. Related materials include the Feel Electric! app for military children, Facebook.com/SesameStreetForMilitaryFamilies, and MilitaryFamiliesNearAndFar.org, which provides tools for military children to create, communicate, and stay connected.
