Demolition range session to be rescheduled

Fort A.P. Hill wants more time to plan for a follow-up meeting on a proposal to move three demolition ranges. That was tentatively set for Jan. 27, but that will be rescheduled. A new date has not yet been set. The plan would relocate three planned demolition sites  closer to Port Royal in Caroline County, where about 150 people turned out for  a public hearing on Jan. 7. Residents are concerned about more noise and potential damage to buildings. The Army says it wants enough time to answer questions posed during the hearing. The additional time, it says, would allow it to schedule some test shots that some speakers suggested would help the town gauge the potential impact.
