And the name of the road is…
We’ve finally got a winner.
After much discussion ensued over the past few weeks on what to name the western portion of Rocky Run Road once the new reservoir floods the middle of the road, a new name was chosen.
The word “West” will be attached to the front of the name, making the 1.4-mile stretch West Rocky Run Road, and house numbers will remain the same.
One homeowner said at Tuesday’s public hearing that her house number is set in stone pillars, costing lots of money to change. She and her neighbors believe they’re being put out more than the other half of the road because they lose their shortcut around U.S. 17.
Hartwood Supervisor Gary Snellings said he’d gone through the same thing three times on Enon Road, and wants to make it easier on the people that live in the road’s 18 homes.
The Planning Commission had recommended no change to the road name. The Board of Supervisors approved the name West Rocky Run Road unanimously.
