Chichester Building now open, dedication set for March 5
County staff members are starting to get settled in the new Chichester Building, part of the Stafford government complex on Courthouse Road.
The Commonwealth’s Attorney and Victim Witness Assistance offices are moving into the office, along with the 15th District Court Service Unit.
Ground was broken on the $2.7 million project back in October 2011. The Board of Supervisors named the courthouse annex in honor of the county’s last two commonwealths attorneys: Richard Henry Lee Chichester, who served for 32 years, and his son, Daniel Chichester, who retired at the end of that year after holding the seat for 40 years.
The three staffs were split between office space in the courthouse and also leased space across U.S. 1. A rescue squad building used to be at the site of the new building.
A dedication will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, with a brief reception to follow.
