Short board meeting planned for Tuesday; deputy to fill Planning seat
A longtime sheriff’s deputy and rescue squad volunteer may fill the empty seat on the Planning Commission.
Darrell English applied for the Hartwood seat. The Board of Supervisors will make the appointment at their Tuesday meeting, the first of 2013.
English has worked for the sheriff’s office for 32 years, and been part of the Crime Prevention Unit for 12 years. He is also the president of the Stafford Volunteer Rescue Squad, where he has volunteered for 38 years. He was previously a member of the county’s Fire & Rescue Commission.
Holly Hazard left the Hartwood seat after being appointed to the county School Board in November. There is one year remaining in the term.
Here is the complete agenda for Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors annual organizational meeting. It begins at 7 p.m., with no afternoon session. Supervisors will also choose the chairman and vice chairman, approve by-laws and set the calendar for the year.
What else can you expect?
- An update on the Embrey Mill Park complex, one of the parks and recreation bond referendum projects that will include a 12 lighted rectangular fields and an indoor swimming pool (a private project).
- The status of the 311 Center (I wrote about the plans last year here).
