Expanded Brooke Station VRE lot opens Wednesday
Commuters leaving from the Brooke Station on the VRE will have more parking spots starting Wednesday.
The addition of 234 spaces means there are now more than 700 spots. The Board of Supervisors will hold a ribbon cutting at 6 p.m. today, when many commuters are headed home.
As of September, parking was at 96 percent capacity, according to the Virginia Railway Express website.
This is the second project this year to increase the number of parking spots for Stafford’s commuters. The new paved lot at Leeland Station opened in September, bringing spots up by 196 to 845.
The combined cost for both projects was $2.2 million, with federal money managed by the state.
