County tree lighting set for Dec. 4

Santa and Mrs. Claus will help light Stafford’s Christmas tree next week.

At 5 p.m. Dec. 4, between afternoon and evening sessions of the Board of Supervisors meeting, a short ceremony will be held in front of the county government center on U.S. 1. A Marine Corps brass quintet and Duane DeHart, the music minister of Ferry Farm Baptist Church, will lead guests in carols.

After last year’s ceremony, I met up with Dale and Trish Parris, a Stafford couple in their 18th year as the Clauses. Here’s a story I wrote after Christmas, along with some great photos.

This is the second year of the lighting–last year, just a small group gathered. County officials hope this year’s celebration will be larger.
