Heritage House looks for donations of personal belongings destroyed in fire

As Heritage House starts plans to rebuild one of its seven group homes after a fire destroyed it earlier this week, staff are asking for help to replace the residents’ personal belongings.

Because not only did just the single-story home on Whispering Pines Lane go up in smoke, so did all of the clothing, toiletries and the rest of the things owned by the seven men who lived there.

“As with most people that live with facilities like ours, they don’t have private insurance,” said Suzanne France, program director of Heritage House, which has six other homes in the region.

Things are getting better as she works to replace the house and its furniture, but the residents still need help replacing their possessions.

Here’s a list of what Heritage House residents need.

To donate, take any items to the office at 1113 Garrisonville Road, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Receipts for tax purposes are available. Heritage House prefers gift cards over monetary donations.
