Newly formed commission to plan armed services memorial in Stafford
Many, many Stafford residents have served in the armed services, and many died in that service. The county may soon commemorate that sacrifice.

An Armed Services Memorial Commission was created last week by the Board of Supervisors.
Chairwoman Susan Stimpson said the father of a Marine sergeant killed in Afghanistan had asked about naming a street after his son, Donald Lamar. But she and other board members started thinking about all the other local members of the military who have been killed.
The commission will come up with plans for a memorial in the county, and make a recommendation by January. Members will be Supervisor Gary Snellings, retired Lt. Gen. Ron Christmas and perhaps Del. Mark Dudenhefer.
