Budget to be passed Tuesday
Tomorrow, the Board of Supervisors plans to approve the county’s $246.6 million budget for fiscal 2013.
But first, the Finance, Audit and Budget Committee will be meeting this afternoon at 3:30 p.m., and then again Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., to finalize any changes in the budget. They will also get an update on the locality specific numbers from the state for public education. Those figures were released last night.

These charts show where money goes in and out of the county's general fund. 53 percent of the expenditures go toward schools.
The adoption of the fiscal 2013 budget, 2012 tax rates, and 2013-22 Capital Improvement Program is set for the 3 p.m. work session.
Here’s the full agenda for Tuesday’s meeting. Highlights at the 7 p.m. portion include:
- Joint public hearing with VDOT on the fiscal 2013-18 secondary system six-year improvement program.
- A public hearing on a rezoning of 23.77 acres at 799 Garrisonville Road.
- A public hearing for an easement on county-owned property at 60 Butler Road for parking for the Falmouth Cemetery.
- Discussion on Route 17 widening impacts and security gates for residential communities.
As always, I’ll be tweeting updates throughout the meeting: @StaffordFLS.
