Cafe closes at England Run Library
The coffee shop that opened in England Run Library in December has closed.
After three months, Lentine’s Coffee Shop ended its service at the library in southern Stafford. Many people in the community were excited about it’s opening, which I wrote about here.
But Nancy Buck, the library’s branch manager, said the management told the library that they didn’t have the traffic that they thought they should. ”It is what it is at this point,” Buck said. “We’re talking about how we want to use the space, if we want to use another type of cafe or program space. … We certainly will use that space, most definitely.”
The food service equipment was owned by the management company, which also has a similar cafe, Greenberry’s, at the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. The library owns the single food display case.
England Run is one of seven branches in the Central Rappahannock Regional Library. Last December, library director Donna Cote said Stafford’s other library, Porter Library in North Stafford, has the space for a possible cafe, but there were no immediate plans for its creation. If new branches are built, she said it was likely that cafes would be included.
P.S. Did you know the library system is on Twitter? Follow them @crrlnews. Here’s a tweet they posted about the cafe:
@staffordfls Sadly true. On 3/8 they announced they would be closing the next day, but they keep their location at Spotsy Reg. Med. Center.
