House catches fire in George Washington District
Stafford’s Fire and Rescue Department responded to a structure fire on Bethel Church Road last night.
Around 9:20 p.m., crews arrived at the unoccupied single family dwelling. “The firefighters initially operated in a defensive mode until the arrival of additional resources, at which time the attack mode transitioned to an offensive interior attack bringing the fire under control within 20 minutes,” a release stated. Neighbors said the home had been abandoned for several months.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and damage estimates are not available.
