Board members to be sworn in
Tuesday will mark the first day for two new members of the Board of Supervisors. The county’s investiture ceremony is planned for 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Board Chambers.
Joining the board are Bob Thomas (to represent the George Washington District) and former supervisor Jack Cavalier (for the Griffis-Widewater District). Cord Sterling will also represent Rock Hill for another term.
The board’s first meeting, which is often an organizational meeting with little action, will be Tuesday, Jan. 3.
Chairman Mark Dudenhefer, who is leaving his Garrisonville seat to represent the 2nd District for the House of Delegates, may make this January meeting his last. As of last week, he was still considering the date for his official resignation from the board for “technical reasons,” he said. The board is taking applications and will discuss filling this seat at the first meeting of the year.
Also being sworn in are Commonwealth’s Attorney-elect Eric Olsen and Sheriff Charles Jett.
