Rock Hill Church Road closed as crews clear overturned propane tanker
Rock Hill Church Road is closed in Stafford County just south of Route 610 after a propane tanker overturned earlier this afternoon.
Stafford Fire and Rescue spokesman Mark Doyle says there is no word on how long it will stay closed. Crews are now removing the propane and clearing the truck from the roadway.
After arriving around 1 p.m. today, firefighters made sure the vehicle was stable and that no gas was leaking before removing the driver, who was trapped. Within an hour, the driver was out and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to a release from Stafford Fire and Rescue.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated by the Virginia State Police.
VDOT has put up message boards in the area to alert drivers of the road closure, as well as signs for a detour route, according to a release. That route is Longwood Drive, which connects Route 610 and Rock Hill Church Road.
