Groundbreaking planned for Courthouse Annex
Tomorrow’s Board of Supervisors meeting will include a groundbreaking for the county’s new $2.7 million Courthouse Annex building, at 5 p.m. It will house the Commonwealth’s Attorney offices, along with Court Services, keeping all staff in a central location. They’re currently spread out in two places – in the courthouse and in leased office space across the street.
The new building will be at the site of the former rescue squad building, which was knocked down last spring in anticipation of this project. Construction should begin soon, and the building is expected to be done next summer. I’ll have more details in Wednesday’s paper after the meeting, along with a rendering of the building.
Also at the meeting, the board is expected to award a contract for the construction to Falls Church Construction Corporation, according to an item on the consent agenda.
