Cool Change

You might have noticed that it’s hot. Extremely hot. And it’s only going to get hotter.

At 1 p.m. today, Stafford County will open a cooling center in the Rowser Building at 1739 Jefferson Davis Hwy. It is simply an air conditioned space for people to beat the heat and remain safe during this heatwave.

From the official press release:

Stafford County will open a cooling center from Thursday, July 21 through Saturday, July 23. The center will be located at the Rowser building, 1739 Jefferson Davis Highway in Stafford. On Thursday, the center will be open from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. On Friday (July 22) and Saturday (July 23), the hours will be 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Individuals should bring snacks, bottled water, medication and other basic necessities to the shelter.

If individuals do not want to go to the shelter, other cooling options include local libraries, movie theaters, or malls.
