Dream Duck Hunt
If you’re a local sportsman, you could do worse than waterfowl hunting on Crow’s Nest in Stafford County. The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation is running a lottery to award permits to hunters who want to take part in a managed hunt of the state natural area preserve. Not only is Crow’s Nest a protected piece of state property, it is not yet open to the public.
Permits are $100, and any applicants must pay a nonrefundable $5 deposit to put their name in the lottery. Check the press release for more details.
I’ve been to Crow’s Nest, and it is a gorgeous piece of waterfront property–ideal habitat for all kinds of wildlife. At the very least, it would be one of the most beautiful places in the state to catch a sunrise from a blind.
