Crow’s Nest to Pass on Stiltgrass
A little bit of good news for the Crow’s Nest Natural Area Preserve in Stafford County.
The Northern Virginia Conservation Trust announced today that they will give $5,000 to the Virginia Natural Area Preservation Fund. The money will be used to remove 17.5 acres of Japanese Stiltgrass–an invasive species on the peninsula.
The money came from private donations to The Trust for Crow’s Nest.
Crow’s Nest is 3,000 acres of pristine wilderness on the Potomac River. While the preserve is occasionally opened for small guided tours, it is not yet officially open to the public.
Fellow reporter Jeff Branscome will have more details in tomorrow’s Free Lance-Star.
