Sorry, No Russell Crowe. Or Kevin Costner. Or Cary Elwes.
The Sherwood Forest Farm property off Rt. 3 in southern Stafford has changed hands a number of times. It looks like the proudest, newest owners could be a Canadian outfit called Walton International Group.
Tim Terrill, the Chief Operating Officer of Walton Development and Management in the United States, said that they have not yet purchased the property, but a purchase is likely. Walton is a land development company, which means they prepare the property for development. They don’t build houses or commercial structures.
The Silver Companies is the current owner of Sherwood Forest Farm. Their most recent plans call for 208 by-right 3-acre lots on 807 acres. Walton has not offered specific plans, but they are considering an adjacent parcel as well, for a total of 1,190 acres.
Walton’s general strategy seems to involve picking an urban area and sticking to it–concentrating their holdings in particular cities. They own property in Atlanta, Phoenix, Calgary, and Dallas, for example. Looks like Stafford could be their next move.
Terrill said they did not have plans to buy any more property beyond Sherwood Forest, but didn’t rule out future purchases in the area.
Thanks to Supervisor Susan Stimpson for the tip.
