Spotsy supervisors urge governor to reject state expansion of Medicaid

The Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors is sending Gov. Bob McDonnell a letter urging him to accept a federal health insurance exchange to meet Virginia’s obligations under the federal healthcare overhaul.

The letter urges him not to expand the state’s Medicaid program, which supervisors called an “unfunded mandate.”

Spotsylvania supervisors, the majority of whom campaigned as conservatives, voted to send the letter late Tuesday night–even though McDonnell has already said he plans to sign onto the federal exchange.
