“Erratic at Best”
Auditor Nancy Miller presented a review of Chancellor Volunteer Fire and Rescue’s finances tonight. She said that there were no criminal findings but that there was a lack of controls. And where there are controls, compliance is “erratic at best,” Miller said.
The review found that some paperwork was missing, and that finances are not regularly reported to Chancellor’s board.
Also, Chancellor has been using per diem money to pay for a part-time employment. It is not clear whether this is allowed, and supervisors didn’t talk about whether it was or not. They did say that the hiring went against the point of the per diem. And they called for a uniform per diem policy that would apply to all three volunteer agencies.
