More details on the bomb threat
From the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office:
Today, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vague bomb threat made to the Spotsylvania County General District Court Clerk’s Office. Few details were given so the immediate courthouse area was shutdown to traffic. As a precaution, Robert E. Lee Elementary School, Courthouse Academy, Gateway Academy and Spotsylvania Middle School were put on lockdown. Emergency procedures were enacted at all four schools. This kept all students safe while the entire area could be searched using explosive detection canines.
The threat was received at 8:15 a.m., and all courts were searched and reopened at 1 p.m. The case is under investigation at this time.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office at 540/582.7115 or Text SEE911 to CRIMES (274637) or call Crime Solvers at 540/582-5822.
