Child Pornography Arrest in Spotsy
The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in a child pornography case. Robert B. Evans III, a 24-year-old Spotsy resident had pornography videos on his home computer, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
From the press release:
Saturday, (Oct. 22) at 8:35 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a private residence in the 8600 block of Laroque Run Drive in Spotsylvania County based upon an investigation involving child pornography.
On July 26, Detective Clay Blankenship was undercover online checking our area for persons sharing child pornography over peer to peer file sharing programs. He successfully conducted an undercover download of three known child pornography videos. He then checked the suspect’s internet address with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and noticed that Homeland Security Investigations had also tracked the same internet address in a case they were working.
Blankenship notified the federal agent working their case and the federal case was released to the local detective. Blankenship next filed a subpoena requesting identifying information that was associated with the internet address. The internet service provider released the address owner’s information and the search warrant was obtained.
Upon executing the search warrant, only one household computer contained the peer to peer software and that one computer contained numerous (20-30) child pornography videos. The suspect, Robert B. Evans III, was taken into custody for ten counts of Possession of Child Pornography and placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail under a $10,000 bond.
