‘show up and walk with us’
We’ll be running a story about Spotsy’s Livestrong Day coming up on Sunday. But time is running out to register online, so I wanted to give you a reminder. Online registration ends Wednesday at midnight. You can click here to learn more and to register.
The event starts at 7 a.m. Sunday and features a 1-mile walk, a 7-kilometer run, a 25-mile bike ride or a 50-mile bike ride. The fun starts at Spotsylvania Medical Regional Center.
If you don’t register online, you can register at the event. But costs do increase after Wednesday, from $40 to $50.
Organizer Jamie Lindsay said:
I would hope that everyone who’s been affected by cancer would show up and walk with us or run with us or ride a bike with us or just be there.
Lindsay is a cancer survivor; four years ago he was given weeks to live. He decided to fight that sentence. You’ll learn more about Lindsay in the upcoming story, but here’s a little taste of the kind of guy he is:
I came home and shaved my head and I said, “OK, cancer and chemo, I’m not going to give you anything except a fight. So if you’re going to take my hair, you can’t have it. I’d rather shave it than give it to you. I’m not a victim.”
