Verizon reacts to the stop-work order
I just got off the phone with Harry Mitchell, a spokesman for Verizon. He told me that the company is “very encouraged” by the fact that Spotsylvania County has halted work on State Route 3 after construction crews repeatedly damaged telecommunication lines.
The two recent cuts–on Friday and Monday–affected thousands of customers, Mitchell said.
“It’s frustrating for our customers, and it’s actually very critical to our customers, such as the hospital and the cancer center,” he said.
Friday’s incident was especially frustrating because crews had to repair the lines while a storm raged.
Mitchell said: “When these things happen, it does affect a lot of customers and you have to work really hard to get them back in service, which we do.”
