How the districts got their shapes
Supervisors just voted to adopt scenario 1a as the new county map. This redistricting plan makes few changes to the county borders–about 10,000 residents will change districts. There will be precinct changes, affecting about 10 precincts.
A working group of 10 county employees has spent the past few months creating this map, this involved nine work sessions and three community input meetings.
At tonight’s meeting, three special interest groups commended the county for keeping the process open to the public.
Before the fall elections, county residents should get new voter registration cards. The voting precinct will be on the front of the envelope. Supervisor Gary Skinner urged residents to pay attention to their mail, to avoid confusion at the polls.
